Lime pellets are a by-product of softening drinking water. The pellets consist primarily of calcium carbonate. They measure about a millimeter in diameter. Their colouration ranges from white to brown, depending on the location. The core can be sand or calcite. They can be processed differently such as being ground, sieved, or sterilized.
This certificate covers the following products:
Lime pellets with calcite core and lime pellets with sand core
The pellets are produced throughout the Netherlands and in Belgian Flanders at over 50 water production locations by 11 drinking water companies: Brabant Water, De Watergroep, Dunea, Evides, Oasen, PWN, Vitens, Waternet, Waterbedrijf Groningen, WMD, WML.
The following are excluded from the scope of the assessment: Use as soil amendment or treatment, use in food or feed.
This certification is considered provisional pending completion of the manufacturing facility site visit, which was postponed due to 2020-21 global travel restrictions.
