The Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute works with like-minded programs, non-profits, and other institutions across the globe to help identify and make accessible healthy, circular, responsibly-made materials and products that can be used to create buildings that are designed for disassembly. For our fall workshop series, we are working with GIGA to showcase their Mindful Materials database as a tool that architects and designers can use to search for product information. Mindful Materials is a design industry initiative that provides a common platform for manufacturers to clearly communicate transparency and optimization information, allowing designers to easily find and specify healthy products into building projects.

The BAMB (Buildings as Material Banks) project and Building Material Scout also provide databases that reference the Cradle to Cradle Certified™ Products Standard. Funded by the European Commission within Horizon 2020, BAMB aims to enable a systemic shift in the building sector by creating circular solutions. BAMB’s electronic Materials Passports are a one stop shop for materials information, providing data describing defined characteristics of materials in products that give them value for recovery and reuse. Users on the Building Materials Scout platform, which allows manufacturers to register products into a searchable library, are able to see if a product is Cradle to Cradle certified.
