The Story

LYCRA® fiber is the brand name of the original spandex (elastane) fiber invented in 1958 that can stretch up to six times its length and return to its original state – time and again. LYCRA® fibers have redefined comfort, fit, freedom of movement and shape retention in virtually every garment category since its first use as a substitute for rubber over 60 years ago. It is a nearly invisible fiber that improves the characteristics of fabrics. LYCRA® Fiber is available from 11 to 2500 decitex and can be combined with other fibers to create fabrics used in many of the clothes you wear, including activewear, legwear, intimates, swimwear and ready-to-wear apparel.
