Washington State's Department of Ecology has selected Cradle to Cradle Certified® as a qualifying program for its Safer Salons Partnership, a pilot initiative helping hair salons and barbershops transition to safer products by offering financial reimbursement of up to $5,000 for purchasing eligible hair products. The program launched its six-month pilot in December 2025.
The European Union has adopted some of the most ambitious recycling and recycled‑content targets globally. Through instruments such as the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), the EU aims to increase recycling rates, boost the use of recycled materials, and reduce reliance on virgin resources by 2030.
Yet despite this policy ambition, Europe’s recycling industry is facing growing structural and economic instability.
In late April 2026, the European Commission confirmed that it does not intend at this point to proceed with a full revision of REACH (the European Union’s flagship regulation on chemicals), despite having announced such a reform under the 2020 Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability.
