Get A Material Health Certificate

The Institute administers a unique, third-party product Material Health Certificate program.

Here are key steps to get you started.

Plan

Review the Material Health requirements in the Cradle to Cradle Certified™ Product Standard and select an Accredited Assessment Body.

Analyze

Work with an Accredited Assessor to explore your supply chain and discover what’s in your product.

Assess

Your assessor will evaluate the potential human and environmental health risks of each chemical in your product throughout the product’s life-cycle.

Certify

Meet the requirements and receive a Material Health achievement level and certificate that summarizes the assessment report.

Re-Certify and Show Your Progress

Report back every two years showing good-faith efforts to optimize the chemical components in your product.

Upgrade to Full Certification

The work conducted to receive a Material Health Certificate counts towards achieving full certification under the Cradle to Cradle Certified Product Standard. Upgrade your certificate at any time by working with your assessor to fulfill the requirements in the Material Reutilization, Renewable Energy & Carbon Management, Water Stewardship, and Social Fairness categories of the Standard.
